As Congress seems unable to agree on extending unemployment relief during the Coronavirus pandemic, Sixth District Congressman Glen Grothman expressed some concern about what may come of the negotiations.
Grothman told SeehaferNews.com that “Checks can go to people who are not any worse off because of this, or people who quite frankly may have been on welfare the whole time…I’m overall concerned regardless as to what the size of the package is.”
The Republican Congressman does not seem to like the way Congress handles negotiating. He said that the idea of “I give you what you want and you give me what I want” is not a good way to go, because both sides want more spending.
“That is the way they do compromises in Washington,” Grothman said.
Weekend talks on extending the benefits broke down with no agreement, and the $600 per week package expired on Friday.
