A Manitowoc man is facing charges after he allegedly struck his fiancé at a party.
Officers first made contact with the couple when an anonymous citizen reported a vehicle acting suspiciously in the area of South 13th and Philippen Streets. The responding officer made contact with the female occupant of the vehicle, who claimed her 37 year old fiancé hit her.
Neither of the individuals spoke fluent English, so a translator was used to obtain their statements.
Both parties said that they were at a friend’s birthday party and had been drinking. The male claimed that his fiancé had drunkenly been kissing another man, which instigated a fight between the two men. The woman claimed she did not remember if the kissing happened, but said her fiancé had pushed her to the ground multiple times, slapped her across the face, and punched her.
The officer noted that the woman had a visible injury corroborating her claim. The man was then arrested on a charge of Battery, with a Domestic Violence Order.
