There has been a little confusion about the new mask policy in the City of Manitowoc.
Last week Mayor Justin Nickels was on 107.9 FM WOMT’s Be My Guest Program and mentioned that masks are required in the Manitowoc Public Library, but that is not the case, at least for now. The Library Board is actually discussing the policy at their meeting this evening, and if passes it would go into effect next Monday.
The complete list of buildings that are affected includes City Hall, the Senior Center, Police and Fire Stations, the Rahr West Art Museum, Wastewater Treatment Facility, Department of Public Infrastructure Shop on Viebahn Street, and in the Evergreen Cemetery Building. It should be noted that masks are not required outside at Evergreen Cemetery, and while at the Farmers Market. The vendors at the Farmers Market do have to wear them however.
The policy does not include children under 2 years old. The policy goes into effect today, and will be re assessed by the Common Council on or around September 21st.
