Lakeland Care is observing its’ 20th anniversary of service this year. Lakeland has one of its’ locations on Custer Street in Manitowoc.
Brooke Basler, employment specialist with Lakeland College, tells SeehaferNews.com they provide services to seniors and adults with disabilities.
“We have evolved from Creative Care Options of Fond du Lac, and that was one of the first family care pilot organizations to open, and that was in February of 2000,” she explained. “We have now grown to serve 22 counties throughout north east and north central Wisconsin. We are grateful to provide long-term needs and enrich the lives of over 7,400 members.”
Basler explains Lakeland Care is a “mission driven organization that cares about members they serve.” On top of that, she gets to “get the experience of helping individuals with disabilities to obtain and maintain employment in the community, or what we refer to as ‘Competitive Integrated Employment’.”
She went on to say “Work is such a big part of our lives, and provides such an opportunity for enrichment, and really just building a full life.”
As Basler stated, “If you don’t need us, you don’t know who we are.”
