Fall High School Sports in Wisconsin may be delayed until next spring.
The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) announced late yesterday that its’ Board of Control will hold a special virtual business meeting tomorrow morning to take action on a proposal that would push fall sports into the spring of 2021, and move spring activities to next summer on a one-year basis.
The plan to be dealt with Thursday at 9am calls for sports like football and soccer to begin in March and last into late May.
Also under the plan developed by a group of schools in the southwest part of the state as everyone deals with uncertainties of COVID-19, spring athletics would begin at the end of May-and run through July.
This proposal which could be approved, rejected or modified by the Board of Control, may result in shortened seasons and less games in some fall or spring sports
