Wisconsin Badgers senior safety Eric Burrell is one of four Big Ten defensive backs named to the preseason Jim Thorpe Award watch list.
Also named Monday were Ambry Thomas of Michigan, Lamont Wade of Penn State and Shaun Wade of Ohio State.
49 athletes across the country are in the running for the award given the top college defensive back each year.
Burrell had 55 tackles as a junior, to go with three-and-a-half tackles for loss, two sacks, three interceptions, six pass breakups, two forced fumbles and a pair of fumble recoveries.
