Bail is set at $2000 recognizance each for two men charged with recklessly endangering safety after allegedly racing each other late Monday morning on Rapids Road.
Police say witnesses stated that vehicles driven by 32-year-old Adam R. Jahnke of De Pere and 28-year-old Jesse R. Kenwabikise (no address given) were travelling at a high rate of speed when Jahnke lost control of his vehicle striking the Rapids Road Bridge, careening into Kenwabikise’s vehicle, which proceeded to hit an SUV driven by 20-year-old Johanna M. Leu (no address given) and suffered an unspecified injury.
The two men then fled on foot and eventually were located on Michigan Avenue and taken into custody. The investigation continues with more charges possibly forthcoming.
Conditions of bail include that both defendants have “no contact” with one another while Kenwabikise must provide an address and phone number to the court and maintain “absolute sobriety” from drugs and alcohol. Initial appearances are scheduled for next month.
