The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has announced $160 million in local transportation aid payments as part of the 2019-’21 state budget. The quarterly payment includes $5 million for local government units in the 9th Senate District.
According to a news release from State Senator Devin LeMahieu, Sheboygan County received $1.5 million in transportation aid, Manitowoc County got just over $700,000, and Calumet County received approximately $550,000. Included in those amounts were slightly over $400,000 in local aid to the City of Manitowoc and more than $460,000 directed to Sheboygan.
LeMahieu, a republican senator from Sheboygan County, says the state budget provided a major investment in local roads & road repair. This included a 10-percent increase, or $66 million, in general transportation aids for local governments to help improve the maintenance of local roads.
