As Manitowoc celebrates its’ Sesquicentennial this year, we learn that three brothers were elected Mayor of Manitowoc. According to Mayor Justin Nickels’ office, Reinhardt, Maximilian and William Rahr all served the city between 1886-to-1903. Two of the three only served a one year term. Up until Nickels was elected at age 22 in 2009, Reinhardt was the youngest elected mayor in the city’s history, being elected at age 27 in 1886. The Rahr’s are most likely remembered for their business interests in Manitowoc’s Brewery and Malting industry.
