The City of Sheboygan’s public transit system, Shoreline Metro, is adjusting its fares starting August 3, 2020. Shoreline Metro will no longer offer reduced fare tokens and free transfers. These changes reflect several months of planning how to safely operate during and after COVID-19.
“We take customer and employee safety very seriously. It’s important for our customers and employees to feel safe when on board our buses and sometimes, safety includes minimizing exposure to illness,” says Derek Muench, Director of Shoreline Metro.
Instead of discounted tokens, Shoreline Metro will offer savings on Day Passes when purchased in packs of six.
“Not only are we keeping customers safe we are offering a tremendous value by encouraging them to purchase Day Passes,” says Muench. “We are also adding value to our half fare program for elderly and disabled customers as well as veterans. With the removal of transfers, we wanted to keep the half fare convenient and affordable for these customers.”
Customers paying by tokens or cash make up 25 percent of revenue while customers using monthly and day passes make up the other 75 percent.
Customers are encouraged but aren’t required to use up any remaining tokens prior to August 3, 2020. For more information on fares, please visit www.shorelinemetro.com
