Interim University of Wisconsin System President Tommy Thompson has asked the governor for $110 million so all 26 campuses can open safely this fall.
The money would pay for COVID-19 tests, contact tracing and personal protective equipment.
Thompson told Board of Regents members about his request at a Thursday meeting. Regents also adopted a mandatory face mask policy for all campus buildings statewide.
Thompson had urged the board to support the policy.
It encourages the wearing of those masks outside while on campus when social distancing isn’t possible.
