A Green Bay man is not only sporting a blackened, swollen eye, but is also facing charges after allegedly attempting to strangle a police officer.
The situation began on July 3rd, when Green Bay Police were called to North Webster Avenue on a report of a vehicle stuck in the median. 24 year old Leo Oscar Sanchez-Basulto was driving that vehicle, and was arrested on Suspicion of OWI.
He was released to a sober adult, but he managed to run away from that unnamed individual.
Sanchez was later seen by police sitting on a plot of grass just to the west of Bellevue Street. Officers approached him and a struggle ensued. Details have not been released regarding what led to the skirmish, but it is being reported that Sanchez attempted to strangle one officer, which led to another officer punching Sanchez in the face and taking him to the ground.
Sanchez is now facing charges of Battery to a Law Enforcement Officer, Strangulation and Suffocation, Obstructing an Officer, and Disorderly Conduct, and had his bail set at $5,000 by a Brown County Judge.
