The timing was fortunate for Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich when he signed his nine-year, $215 million contract.
That was March 6th and less than a week later spring training was stopped due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The 28-year-old slugger had two years remaining on his previous deal when he got the big raise.
Yelich has told reporters he has never considered opting out of this season, though he does understand while other players might.
He says he expects more of them to make that choice as summer camp continues for the teams.
