For a man who normally avoids saying “boo” to the president, Wisconsin’s Paul Ryan was quite the roaster on Thursday night. The Janesville Republican was the keynote speaker at the Alfred E. Smith Dinner that raises funds for Catholic charities in New York — and when he took the microphone Ryan said, “Enough with the applause, you sound like the Cabinet when Donald Trump walks into the room.” The event pokes fun at politicians and their issues — and Ryan said that when people ask him what it’s like to work with an abrasive New Yorker, he said, “Once you get to know him, Chuck Schumer’s not all that bad.” Ryan also said the media never reports on Trump’s biggest accomplishments, and he mentioned “all the new jobs the president has created — just among the White House staff.”
