Man Killed When ATV Hits Bear Near Tomahawk

A 51-year-old man has died after his all terrain vehicle hit a bear northwest of Tomahawk in Lincoln County. Sheriff’s deputies say the rider was going west on County Trunk Double “C” when it hit the bear — and his machine then overturned and ejected him. The man was first taken to a hospital in Tomahawk before he was flown to a Wausau hospital where he died. The man was the only person on his vehicle, he was not wearing a helmet, and alcohol is not suspected as a possible factor. The victim’s name was not immediately released.
