The village board in Twin Lakes is expected to vote on the future for its police dog at a meeting next week.
Officer Joe Patla is Rex’s handler. He had offered to buy Rex, but city leaders said the police dog belonged to Twin Lakes.
Community members rallied behind the officer and the dog, raising more than $11,000 in less than 24 hours. The pressure from the community apparently has led the board to reconsider its position. .
It’s holding a special session Monday at 6:30 p-m to approve the sale.
