State health officials are asking Wisconsinites not to travel for the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
The Department of Health Services says 20 percent of all the COVID-19 cases have occurred over the past five weeks — since Memorial Day weekend when no statewide travel restrictions were in place.
The D-H-S says many of the new cases involve people under 30 who visited bars and establishments where social distancing is difficult.
Governor Tony Evers said, “we know this is a time people like to celebrate with friends, but COVID-19 is still spreading in our state, and we need everyone to take the necessary precautions.”
