The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation is in charge of what is being called an officer-involved death.
Monona police went after the driver of a vehicle that had been connected to violent crimes in Madison early Saturday. The car crashed into some trees, but officers never found the suspect.
The D-C-I became involved when a body was found in a Lake Monona lagoon Monday.
Property in the wrecked vehicle has been identified as belonging to the dead person found in the water.
No names have been released and the Monona officers are on administrative leave.
