Researchers at the University of Wisconsin report one-in-three high school athletes in the state are showing symptoms of depression – more than three times the normal rate.
The study was done in partnership with the W-I-A-A.
Scientists say it could be closed schools, cancellations, or the economic uncertainty all families are facing.
The state organization says it will be up to the local school districts to decide what to do with the information.
The W-I-A-A is still planning on at least some fall sports being played.
