School districts around the state continue discussions about how learning will look this Fall during the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s after the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction issued guidance Monday for districts to use in pursuing a safe return to in-person instruction.
Mark Holzman, Superintendent of the Manitowoc Public School District, tells SeehaferNews.com that he and the school board will likely release their plan later next month.
Holzman says “it’s evident we’re going to have to be nimble. We know that school is going to happen in September. What that looks like, we’re not sure of at this particular time.”
Holzman explained that there are three different options, in person as it was before COVID, strictly virtual as it was during COVID, or a mix of both.
He admitted, “We are concerned much like, I’m sure, our health officials are about the increase in community spread we are seeing.”
Many different protocols have been put into place, but Holzman admits they “aren’t going to eliminate all risks when we come back to school.”
The local administrator closed by saying, “We will try to work with all of our families to make sure they know there’s an online option for them, if they choose not to come back this Fall.”
