The National Weather Service is accepting public input as it considers whether it should eliminate the use of the term “weather advisory.” Many people don’t really know what that means. A senior forecaster in the Twin Cities tells a La Crosse reporter past research shows people are confused by the terms “watch” and “advisory.” A watch is issued when conditions are favorable for dangerous weather, while advisories are issued when storms really pose very little threat.
