Thirty years after he graduated, his former coaches and teammates at the University of Wisconsin still marvel at the talent displayed by John Byce.
He played baseball and hockey for the Badgers from 1985 to 1990. Byce is one of the 11 athletes who will be inducted into the University of Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame in September.
His first hit in a Big Ten baseball game was a grand slam and his first shot in a hockey game was a goal.
Byce is the only player in N-C-A-A history to win a national hockey championship, then play in the Stanley Cup Finals in the same season.
