Milwaukee Public Schools are being pushed to cancel a half-million-dollar contract that pays for police to patrol near several district schools. A large group of protesters gathered outside district headquarters Wednesday. Milwaukee School Board President Larry Miller says the times have changed and he supports the protesters’ demands. He says the money spent on the extra patrols could be used elsewhere. Milwaukee police officers haven’t actually been present inside the schools since 2016.
