The Shorewood lawyer accused of spitting on a black high school student during a protest has made her first court appearance. The defense attorney for Stephanie Rapkin says she plans to file a motion to dismiss the hate crime enhancer on the disorderly conduct charge. Rapkin is also facing felony battery for kneeing an officer in the groin during her arrest. Video shows Rapkin spitting on Eric Lucas June 6 after protesters asked her to move her car which was blocking their march. Rapkin said she wants to meet with Lucas and apologize despite a no contact order with the victim. Her next court hearing is July 24th.
