One thing this world needs more of is love and compassion. A Manitowoc woman is trying to spread this message through her Facebook Group, Morgan’s Gainz. Shanen Daly, who created the group a little over a year ago, explained that the purpose of the group is to “promote positivity by doing kind things for others.”
The namesake of the group is actually Shanen’s son, who tragically took his own life in 2016. Shanen told SeehaferNews.com, “He put everyone else before himself, and was always there to give good advice help others, direct them, things like that.” Shanen created the group as a way to both honor her son and to promote positivity.
She explained that once Morgan was discharged from the Marine Corps, he was the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Valders High School Football team, and ran the Valders Weight Room. “He was someone that a lot of people looked up to, especially the kids at school,” She said. “People in the gym room, no matter what the age, would always reach out to him for advice.”
As for how members can participate in Morgan’s Gainz , Shanen explained that you “either find a card or somebody passes it to you by doing a good deed. For example, say I bought you a coffee at Starbucks, and you are the car behind me. I would leave the card, and hopefully the cashier would pass that card on. On the card it says ‘Please pass this card on with a random act of kindness’ and ‘Share your experience or story on Morgan’s Gainz Facebook.’” While she uses the example of buying someone a coffee, the random act of kindness does not have to be money related. It could be as simple as holding the door for someone, or cleaning off your neighbor’s car after a snowstorm.
Join the Morgan’s Gainz Facebook group to see what other people have done to help spread positivity in the community, and to get involved yourself.
Cards can also be picked up at the Seehafer Broadcasting Studios on Mangin Street in Manitowoc.
