Classmates, friends, teachers and administrators are remembering the relatively short, but impactful life of 18-year old Evan Clark.
The Manitowoc teenager died last Thursday from a tragic train accident less than 2-months from his graduation from Lincoln High School. Clark was an excellent student and a multiple-sport athlete at Lincoln.
MPSD Superintendent Mark Holzman tells SeehaferNews.com that “his thoughts and prayers go out to Evan’s family, close relatives and friends (for his loss).” He added, “anytime we lose a loved one it’s tragic, and with school being in session virtually, it provides challenges.”
But, Holzman says school counselors have worked together to send out communications. He explained, “Lee Thennes, the high school principal, sent out a video message and shared with hem how they can connect virtually so that we can communicate with students who have had some concerns about the tragedy.”
The school administrator says they’ve sent letters to parents because the death of a classmate or other influential people sometimes brings additional grief.
“We are doing everything we can to help support Evan’s classmates,” Holzman said. “We’ve been in connection with the family, and trying to do things to celebrate his life and respectfully provide the family with privacy the best we can.”
Evan Clark’s family will be celebrating his life this Saturday, with a visitation at St. Francis of Assisi, Waldo site from 9:00 until 11:30 with a Noon mass by invitation only, due to COVID-19.
