Officials at the Outagamie County Jail say two inmates accused of killing children failed in their escape attempt last weekend.
They say Demetrius Williams hid outside his cell, then threatened a corrections officer with an improvised weapon. He demanded that she release Michael Beyer from his cell, but that was shut down quickly.
Williams is charged with killing three-year-old Zyana Corbin of Appleton, while Beyer faces charges in the deaths of his two children – five-year-old William and three-year-old Danielle Beyer.
Jail officials say Beyer actually never got out of his cell, but both men will be charged with attempted escape and kidnapping, taking a hostage.
