Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn says his officers will step up their traffic enforcement from now until the end of the year. That’s after a pair of crashes this past weekend which involved a stolen S-U-V and another car used in an armed robbery. Two Milwaukee officers were injured in a crash involving the robbery vehicle, and five people were hurt in the other mishap — which involved a stolen S-U-V that was racing on a northwest side roadway. As of October second, Milwaukee had 47 traffic deaths in the first nine months of the year — just ten fewer than all of last year. Also, about 400 people have been injured in crashes in the state’s largest city.
