Community cooperation has been key during COVID-19 restrictions, according to Manitowoc Police Chief Nick Reimer.
During a recent interview, Reimer explained that businesses, people, and residents have been policing themselves during the quarantine.
“They don’t want to put themselves in danger and they don’t want to put anyone else in danger,” Chief Reimer said. “This community has been terrific. [It has been] just a joy to work with everyone under these unfortunate circumstances. We don’t have anyone bucking the system. It’s been really nice.”
The chief added, “we don’t want to have to enforce these things if we don’t have to.” And, Reimer says with society reopening…and more demands on their officers, they’re no longer scheduling coronavirus birthday parades for children.
