It’s no secret dairy farmers have been struggling for quite some time, both battling the cost of milk, and more alternatives coming into the marketplace. The COVID-19 pandemic has not helped at all, but 52 dairy farmers in Sheboygan County are receiving some much-needed aid.
Bank First, a local family foundation and Consumer Credit Counseling Service teamed up to create the Sheboygan County Dairy Farmer Fund, which gave these farmers the opportunity to review their budgets with Consumer Credit Counseling and split $275,000 between them.
Ag in Sheboygan County alone employs more than 8,600 people and accounts for over $3 billion in economic activity. The industry also accounts for almost $740 million of the county’s total income.
