With Memorial Day coming up on Monday, many people may feel the need to open their wallets and donate to one of the many veterans charities that are available.
However, the Better Business Bureau wants to make sure you don’t donate to one of the many phony charities that will try to take your money.
Some veterans charities include the same words in a different order or slightly different form in an attempt to make you think you are donating to a legitimate organization.
Some of those names also are misleading, as they may sound like a veterans organization, when in reality they are not. Always look for a description of the organization on their site.
If you receive a call from an organization looking for money and they pressure you to give, don’t allow them to get to you. Most legit organizations will simply ask, and will not try to make you donate.
