Manitowoc County has been drenched with rain over the past 36 hours.
Emergency Services Director Travis Waack Spoke with SeehaferNews.com, and said “We fortunately were pretty lucky…with the amount of rain we received” as far as flooding is concerned.
He said most places received between 2 and 3 inches, but some people sent pictures of their rain gauges filled to the 5 or 6 inch mark.
Waack said his team checked on the major flooding trouble spots several times throughout the day, and reports “a lot of water moved through, but for the most part everything stayed fairly contained.”
While it was not a problem this time, Waack says it is very important to be prepared for the worst case scenario. This includes packing a “Go Bag” if you live in an area near a dam or river that is prone to flooding, and to keep items off the floor in your basement if you have experienced flooding in the past.
Waack also joked about how he is not just the COVID-19 guy, and that just because we are in a pandemic that “doesn’t mean those other emergencies and disasters stop.”
