We all love our furry friends, but the City of Manitowoc is asking citizens to clean up after their four legged companions.
In a news release the city said they have received several complaints from citizens about people taking their dogs for walks, and not cleaning up the excrement that is left behind.
The release noted that it is actually illegal to leave any pet waste on another person’s property due to the diseases that could be transmitted to people through that waste.
The waste could also have a negative impact on the water quality as it can get washed into the storm sewer.
The city advises that everyone bring doggie bags with them while walking their barking buddy and simply clean up after they do their business.
