The W-I-A-A Board of Control has approved an extension of the alternate-year physical exam period rule.
Players will have to apply for the extension.
The rules say before an athlete can play high school sports, he or she has to have a physical – then, that physical has to be renewed every two years.
The coronavirus pandemic has complicated the situation.
The new rule goes into effect for the 2020 fall sports season.
The board approved the change at a meeting last week.
