
The State Supreme Court ruled late yesterday afternoon that Governor Evers’ administration overstepped its authority when it extended his “Safer At Home” Order until 8 a.m. May 26th.
Republican legislators asked the Supreme Court to block the extension and let them offer their own recovery plan.
25th Assembly District Representative Paul Tittl of Manitowoc tells SeehaferNews.com that the extension amounted to State Department of Health and Human Services Secretary designee Andrea Palm wrote rules without legislative input.
Tittl explained that, “There are laws in the land that give the Governor certain orders to have an emergency declaration for a certain length of time, but after that, you can’t just have one of your cabinet members now declare a new emergency order.”
Tittl cautions that everything won’t be rewound back to before the pandemic hit, saying there will be certain rules will be put in place such as social distancing and mask guidelines.
The Supreme Court’s ruling is binding-and they also ruled against the 6 day stay Republicans had requested.
The legislature Is reviewing all options and will be releasing details on a reopening plan very soon.
