The Department of Criminal Investigation has released some details about an officer involved shooting over the weekend in Green Bay.
According to the report, officers from the Green Bay Police Department were called to the 2800 block of University Avenue on a report of shots being fired.
When Officers Roman Trimberger, and Nicholas Walvort arrived on the scene, they reported seeing 42 year old Elder Melgar fire a weapon at another individual. The officers then fired upon Melgar, killing him at the scene.
A second individual, 34 year old Manuel Hernandez was arrested, but it was not specified ow he was involved in the incident.
Officers Trimberger and Walvort have been placed on administrative leave, as is policy until the investigation by the DCI is complete.
