United Way of Manitowoc County has announced phase-1 of grants from their COVID-19 Basic Needs Relief Fund.
Courtney Hansen, Community Engagement Manager, tells SeehaferNews.com that thirteen local, nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations are receiving a total of $22,150 to help meet the basic needs & support the financial health of so-called ALICE households, which stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, but Employed.
Hansen said these people are “Working hard, but…the pandemic has made it hard for them to meet their basic needs.”
Hansen explains they have raised just over $52,000, with the first phase of those funds going to help 13 different tax-exempt organizations.
United Way-Manitowoc County will continue to support Manitowoc County’s nonprofit organizations during and after this pandemic by providing future phases of funding in the coming weeks and months to aid in both short term response & longer term recovery.
