Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez, football coach Paul Chryst and basketball coach Greg Gard will be dealing with smaller paychecks for the next six months.
The U-W athletic department is implementing what it calls a “compensation and work reduction plan.”
Its top 25 highest-paid employees will take a 15 percent pay cut, while other workers will see their hours reduced by 20-to-50 percent over the next two months. The move should save about $2.8 million while the U-W System struggles with a funding shortfall approaching $100 million.
