Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren says his conference is at least six weeks away from making any decision about fall sports.
For now, the conference football season is set to start on the first Saturday in September – less than four months from now.
Big Ten schools have started planning for re-opening their campus – maybe with social distancing guidelines in effect – but none of those 14 schools can promise the fall semester will start on time.
Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith points out that if students aren’t on campus the school has decided it’s not safe for them. He wonders why it would be considered safe for student-athletes.
