There was yet another fire at a De Pere home yesterday, the second in a week.
De Pere Fire Rescue crews were called to the home on Elm Street just after 5:30 yesterday morning by a passerby who noticed the fire.
That good Samaritan alerted the two adults and three children inside, allowing them to get out of the duplex safely.
Crews were able to quickly extinguish the flames on the second floor of the structure, which ignited due to improper disposal of smoking materials.
The fire Rescue team called the unnamed passerby a hero for her actions in not only reporting the fire, but also alerting the residents, making sure everyone got out safely.
There is no telling how devastating the situation could have been had she not acted in such a quick and selfless manner.
