It is possible the San Antonio Missions have already played their final game as a part of the Brewers’ farm system.
While the Major League Baseball season is still “up in the air,” many minor league teams are about to fold.
The Brewers pay the salaries of the coaches and players of their Triple-A affiliate, but the Missions have to cover the paychecks for more than two dozen full-time employees, plus the gameday stadium staff.
Games without fans in the stands are not an option for teams like the Missions.
Add to that the fact their player development contract with Milwaukee is set to expire at the end of the season – and the future becomes the definition of “uncertain.”
