How did the Manitowoc County Historical Society’s Pinecrest Historical Village grow and come to be the living history museum it is today? Join the Manitowoc County Historical Society and former Executive Director Robert Fay to learn about the museum’s history on Thursday, May 14 at 1 pm with an online webinar to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Pinecrest Village.
Participants will hear behind-the-scenes stories from Fay (MCHS Director from 1987 to 2001) as he shares the history and creation story of the award-winning historical village. The land that would become Pinecrest Historical Village was donated by Hugo and Eleanor Vetting in November 1969, with the first building – the Sorenson House – moved in January 1970. Today the museum includes over 25 structures. This program was originally scheduled as an in-person Hungry for History series program and will be rescheduled for an in-person program for a later date.
Those interested in viewing the webinar can register through the Manitowoc County Historical Society’s website at ManitowocCountyHistory.org and clicking on the “Creating Pinecrest” program link. There is no cost to view the webinar but donations are encouraged to help support the mission of local history preservation. The program will also be live streamed to the museum’s Facebook page.
