The U.S. Navy announced today that they have selected Wisconsin’s Fincantieri Marinette Marine shipyard to build a class of up to 10 multi-mission guided-missile frigates (FFGs) for the Navy’s FFG(X) program.
This announcement follows a $31 million commitment from the state as part of the 2019-21 state budget in the Fincantieri Marinette Marine shipyard to support worker training and infrastructure development to meet the navy’s manufacturing expectations. This included a $29 million investment through the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Harbor Assistance grant program for the Port of Marinet
