The workers at Ascend Services in Manitowoc are missing the people they serve, as they haven’t been able to see them in quite some time.
To help both themselves and the people they serve, Deanna Genske and the folks at Ascend have set up an event for those people, called Drive-By and Wave with Heart.
Genske explained that at their Meadow Lane location on Friday, May 1 at 3:00 p.m., “We’re going to have all of our staff stationed outside, six feet apart of course, and they will be able to drive through the parking lot…and see our faces.”
There will also be a rather cool addition to this event as, weather permitting, Advance Entertainment DJ Services will be playing music in the parking lot. Genske explained that they use that service for their dances, so the people they serve will also be able to see their favorite DJ’s during the parade.
Deanna went on to explain why this is so important, saying “We miss them so much, I think that’s just what we are looking for. It will make our day, our week, and our month even better just by being able to see them. It has been since March 23rd since we have seen a lot of the people we serve.”
Genske told SeehaferNews.com that they are still staying in contact with the people they serve and have started offering classes via Zoom to make sure they continue to learn while still following the safer at home order.
She also said all of the people they serve are itching to get back to work.
