Fond du Lac Fire Chief Peter O’Leary says a driver who just passing by when he saw a house on fire reacted like a hero.
When he saw the flames Thursday afternoon, he stopped and banged on the door until the person inside was awake. The hero’s name hasn’t been released.
Firefighters say flames were coming out of two second-floor windows when they arrived.
A dog that was inside died, despite efforts to save it, and a cat survived.
The cause of that fire is being investigated.
