The Rock County district attorney has cleared a Janesville police officer for shooting a man last month when he approached officers with a knife in his hand.
Christian A. Cargill was shot in the shoulder and leg when he repeatedly ignored commands to drop the weapon.
D-A David O’Leary determined the actions of Patrol Officer Lyle Hollingshead were “lawful and reasonable.”
The D-A is reviewing evidence to determine if criminal charges should be filed against the Oklahoma man.
