With the statewide “Safer at Home” orders, Brown County Public Works is seeing a significant reduction in traffic on the roadways compared to normal. With schools closed and many area businesses closed, the Brown County Public Works Department is starting construction work on a couple of major intersections in the County to minimize the disruption to the area once the “Safer at Home” orders are lifted. Brown County crews will perform the work following the minimum safe distance requirement of six feet in accordance with the “Safer at Home” order.
The next major intersection involves a reconditioning project on CTH J (Riverview Drive) and CTH C (Shawano Avenue). This work consists of removing the existing pavement, repairing poor subgrade areas, repairing curb and gutter, and placing new asphalt pavement.
The intersection of CTH J (Riverview Drive) and CTH C (Shawano Avenue) will be closed during construction. This intersection closure will take place after the intersection at CTH J (Riverview Drive) and CTH EB (Cardinal Avenue) is opened to traffic. The closure is scheduled to begin at 2:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2020, and is expected to last approximately two weeks. During this time, traffic will be detoured using CTH J (Riverdale Drive), CTH RK, CTH EB (Cardinal Lane), Hillcrest Heights, and Glendale Avenue.
Project information including detour maps, project notifications, and schedule updates will be available on the project website. The project website can be accessed by going on the Brown County website (www.browncountywi.gov) and clicking on the “Public Works” link under the “Departments” tab.
