It could be worse, but canceling sports camps and keeping the Madison campus closed is a setback for U-W recruiting.
Basketball coach Greg Gard acknowledges the University of Wisconsin won’t be bringing 300 high school players to the sports camps where they could be evaluated.
Gard already has a six-player 2020 class which is highly-regarded and ready to arrive later this year.
Football head coach Paul Chryst has nine known commitments for the 2021 class, but the program has a history of picking up valuable recruits between late May and the end of August.
The coronavirus impact on the football program can’t be measured yet.
