Restaurants have seen their offerings limited to only takeout or delivery in recent weeks because of COVID-19. That didn’t stop a group of area women from continuing their Thursday night tradition at the H-&-C Elbow Room in Manitowoc.
Business owner Pat Ryan said the group always sat in the front corner booth for the Thursday night special. Since they were not able to dine inside, the women contacted Ryan to see if they could order food & chat as they used to, only this time in the restaurant’s parking lot. Of course, while observing the 6-feet social distance rule. With his approval, they parked their SUV’s in a circle and with open hatchbacks facing one another, enjoyed their sandwiches, refreshments they brought themselves and conversation.
Ryan affectionately calls the group his “lobster ladies” because they always ordered the Thursday night lobster special. Like others at this time, they called in their sandwich order and the food was brought out to the group in the parking lot.
Pat Ryan appreciates their loyalty and stated, “it’s a whole new world” for him and other restaurant owners. Ryan continued, “We’re definitely trying to do our part in limiting the spread of the virus.”
