The graduation of Markus Howard has focused a lot of the recruiting attention by Marquette on guards.
The Golden Eagles are strong inside, but somebody needs to bring the ball upcourt.
Despite that factor, Marquette has been listed among the teams trying to sign a pair of sizeable players – seven-footer Asbjorn Midtgaard of Wichita State and six-foot-eight Trey Murphy of Rice, both of which have entered the transfer protocol.
Midtgaard has been a reserve for the Shockers and is a big-time rebounder and shot-blocker, but not much of a scorer.
Despite his height, Murphy is listed as a guard who averaged right at 11 points-a-game for the Owls.
He hit 39 percent of his 3-pointers last season, firing up an average of seven long shots-a-game.
